Just wondering. Who do you headcanon as Worf's best friend that he has a crush on?

Well, it depends on which franchise you're talking about.

For TNG, I think Deanna is legit a romantic interest for him, so it can't be her. (OMG, how wee!Lorraine was invested in that ship) I think beyond Deanna, the people he's closest to on the Enterprise are weirdly Riker and Picard. I mean, he asks Riker to kill him in "Ethics" when he's paralyzed. So I'm gonna go Riker.

On DS9, I think that his most significant relationship is with Jadzia, who is clearly a romantic interest. But I also think she's his BFF. If I look beyond her (which is so hard because she is so shiny), I think O'Brien is an interesting choice because they have shared history on the Enterprise and I think Worf respects the Chief.

This is really interesting because I was ALSO thinking Riker and Jadzia. Even though Jadzia was his wife they were kind of bros. Actually now that I think of it, Jadzia kind of had to coax him into admitting/realizing that he was attracted to her so probably, if she hadn't, it would have evolved into that kind of thing, his attraction just kind of simmering below the surface. Interesting also that Riker and Jadzia have some similar personality traits ;D

I love Worf/Deanna too, btw.

I can see Worf respecting and being friends with O'Brien but Iiii don't know if there's any attraction there. But oh my god now I want fic of them being in battle together and having sexual tension.

I agree with you that if she hadn't pushed it, Worf/Jadzia would never have happened and that she likely would have been his super BFF only.

I think Riker gets a lot of undeserved hate (although not from FS! LOL), but I think he's a really interesting character, and I think a relationship between him and Worf would be really interesting.

As far as O'Brien goes, I'm always gonna ship him with Keiko and/or Bashir. *But* I think that O'Brien is someone that Worf can call a warrior. O'Brien gets in the trenches and he gets shit done, and I think it's safe to call him the woobie of DS9, what with how many episodes are devoted to the terribad angst of his time travel to save the world or his mind implanted incarcerations. I can see Worf's respect morphing into something else under the right circumstances.

YEAH like I said below I can see Ezri and Worf eventually becoming super tight friends. Worf goes to her with personal problems sometimes. ACTUALLY wait she's the counselor so he would HAVE TO. But outside of that. He totally goes to her AS A FRIEND with some of his personal issues. (Also, Ezri and Deanna meet at a counselor's convention at some point and end up talking about sex with Worf.)

I like Riker. He's not my FAVORITE but I think they gave him enough depth for him to be interesting (also his EYELASHES???? Jonathan Frakes has ridiculous eyelashes.) I was expecting him to be a lot more shallow from what I gathered from fandom but nah he's pretty good. It's not like he's Tom Paris.

Oh man I love you. I love your mind. Keiko and/or Bashir, yes. Preferably and because I like to work around canon, I love Keiko, and I think the O'Briens are a beautiful family. I can see Miles and Keiko having an open relationship but it would take a LOT of work, for instance, O'Brien was always kind of juuuuuust about to admit his attraction to Bashir and then Bashir was like "oh?????? ;D" and Miles was like "uhhhhhhhh nevermind" (which kind of goes with the theme of my original post, doesn't it?)

oh HELL YEAH I can see Worf respecting Miles as a warrior. I love this. Why isn't there fic about this? I REALLY LOVE THIS.

Awwww, I have to say that we diverge on Tom Paris. I actually really like Tom Paris. IDK if it was fandom that convinced me to love him or the show itself, but I really dig his whole daddy issues and also I *really* like the Aliens Literally for reals yo Made Them Do It relationship he starts with B'elanna. I do not like how he and Janeway have lizard babies, but pretty much nobody likes that.

It really does feel like O'Brien and Bashir are always on the cusp of confessing an epic love. Pretty sure. That I've got some OT3 stuff of them recced in my tags.

Who else do you think should be doing it on DS9?

Lord do I love Ezri. I mean, I get that I'm not supposed to because jadzia was so awesome. and she was. she's prob my fav Trek character period. But Ezri is so cool. I would love her and Worf to be legit friends with something bittersweet just under the surface.

the thing with Ezri is that I love her? but she wouldn't exist without Jadzia's death. but I love Jadzia!!!!

I know. :( I think that's what kept a lot of people from liking Ezri when the show was originally airing. I am sure they exist somewhere, but I have never met anyone ever who didn't think Jadzia was the bees knees; fans were really gutted when she died, and it was hard to see Ezri as a character in her own right.
