(Anonymous) 2014-07-26 02:12 am (UTC)(link)Although, in WoW IIRC you'd only get flagged if you went into enemy cities. There were dedicated PvP zones, but there was no reason to be in them if you weren't going to PvP. So, they were completely optional. Unless your friends were playing on a PvP server. In friendly territory you wouldn't be flagged unless you stepped into contested territory. Basically, WoW PvP has pretty much been largely optional.
But it still remains that I don't think there are many games where PvP isn't optional, unless the entire game is meant to be PvP. Even then those games have been getting PvE modes. Like Hearthstone recently got a PvE addition and CoD games have campaign modes.

*shrug* Yeah, well, apparently Nightscale had an issue with it being part of a quest in WoW recently. It may not happen often but it happens enough to be very irritating.
