It wasn't just that nothing ever happened unfortunately. When she came back, Carly forgot ever being a Dark Signer and everything about what happened, including the stuff with Jack. And Jack just...never did anything about it? Carly still had her crush and there were even shenanigans with Mikage and another girl trying to be competition, but that was about it.

Tbh it was even a little disappointing to someone like me who doesn't ship them romantically at all, because it's not like Jack forgot anything, but no one ever asked him about it nor did he ever give an excuse like that he was trying to protect her or something (that i remember, it's been ages). They just...never did anything with it again, other than for comic relief.

Post-DS 5D's was kind of a mess for a lot of reasons, unfortunately.

eh. that sucks.

But at least it wasn't a formal thing where they Broke Up or Had A Fight or something. Frankly I'm not in the least surprised, considering that shonen seems to be allergic to romance. They'll hint at it, but they're afraid of grossing out their target audience with cooties or something.
