I don't mind if they're reasonably discreet about it and if it's not some ridiculously formal setting. Casually whipping one's boob out, say, in close quarters in a brightly-lit public place or at a corporate meeting or the opera or ballet (especially without a receiving blanket or strategically placed part of a shirt, etc.) would be in very poor taste.

I don't think it's fair to exile a nursing mom to the restroom, but I do think people, including moms (and cell phone users, for that matter) should have some consideration for the comfort of the people around them and make some reasonable attempt to accommodate social standards. Having been there myself, it was rarely a major inconvenience and never caused any discernible harm to my daughter.
