The police are non-sentient creatures? 'Splains why they are all called pigs I guess.

Pigs are sentient, just not sapient.

I've always thought it was an unfair comparison, I mean I've never seen an actual pig beat an unarmed protester with a nightstick. The police on the other hand, or trotter.

I know the LAPD can get a little crazy, but I'd be hard pushed to find the last time they were such assholes an officer bit someones hand off.

Well, she didn't bite anything off, but that appears to be more a case of insufficient jaw strength. LAPD do train their dogs to be extra aggressive towards black people too.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-26 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
You mean individual LAPD officers who are racist may influence their dogs that way as well.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-26 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure, individuals do it in the context of the racist institutional culture, but sure whatever.

The terms have been used so inter-changeably over the last few decades, we might as well give in and accept most people think they are the same.

You’re in a desert walking along in the sand when all of the sudden you look down, and you see a tortoise, it’s crawling toward you.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-26 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
stick it in

(Anonymous) 2014-07-26 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
What one?

Is that some kind of abstract metaphor?

(Anonymous) 2014-07-26 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a Bladerunner reference.

A big theme of the film is whether the faux cop is actually a robot like those he's hunting.

This + the Charlie Weasley "he's into dragons too much" comments above = love

Believe it or not, most police officers are sentient. I know it might not seem like it sometimes, but it's true.
