Because as someone who writes fic and wants to do a good job at getting characterisation and continuity right, it's easier to immerse myself in one fandom at a time. Trying to be involved in multiple fandoms splits my focus and makes me less productive as a writer. Sad, but true. It'd be nice to be fluent and productive in multiple fandoms simultaneously, but I can't do it and I've tried.

That's true, too. Complete immersion helps so much. After a while you just start finding writing these characters as natural as breathing.
