Pretty much any theory that is just assumed by the fandom to be canon when it isn't yet ends up becoming something i hate. So while i think there is probably a good chance Jon is a Targaryen, I still really hate the theory and don't want it to be canon in large part because of the fandom.

I hate how ideas from other fandoms bleed into completely unrelated fandoms. Like Harry Potter werewolves taking on the sorts of werewolf traits that aren't at all evident in that fandom (things like alphas/betas/omegas, animalistic sexuality, talking about girlfriends/boyfriends as mates, females inherently submissive, etc.). And I'm not talking AU A/B/O fics, I'm talking about fics that are trying to be canon-like.

This is a problem with any sort of established "creature" popping up in new material, I think. Teen Wolf werewolves are explicitly stated to not actually have problems with silver, and lo and behold? Fanfic where silver bullets are a thing. It's very annoying.

It's both. I many werewolf stories, silver is toxic to werewolves and in many vampire myths, silver burns.

Eh. *shrug*

edit:.....I just realized that Clawdeen (Monster High) is constantly wearing gold accessories. Wonder if that has any bearing on that...? Hmm.

Both. The movie Silver Bullet is a werewolf movie, for example, and follows a lot of the general lore pretty closely. It comes up some times, but it is explicitly considered a mistranslation in Teen Wolf.
