The LOL DRUGS thing is a pet peeve for me. I don't even have anything against drugs; it's just, like, the human brain is magically weird all on its own! Sometimes there's this weird reductiveness to it, like the entire strange, dreamlike or complex fantasyscape is just a riddle to which the answer is DRUGZ LOL. And once the riddle has been answered, that's it; there's no more to say.

I'm sure lots of colorful, creative and weird stuff is partly inspired by or a reference to some kind of altered state -- but even if that's the case, that isn't all it is. You didn't crack a code or win a victory just because you figured out the artist was ttly tripping.

I don't like Just Hallucinating Everything theories, either as a rule, though I have seen them done well.
