Chances are, it's probably dirt. You may think nothing's in there, but you'd be surprised. As far as I know, though, you should be able to take it to a computer repair shop and have them clean it for a relatively low price? You can do it yourself, but when I did it I broke something and one of my keys was loose forever, haha.

I suppose it could also be internal. Do typical clean-up and run a virus scan just in case.
