I'm fully on board with making fun of sexist people.

It's the methods and the insults used that don't sit well with me. Do we have to do it by shaming them by calling them fat virgin losers, and giving them a label that mocks their appearance? Especially since fat-shaming and virgin-shaming and appearance=value are issues feminism purportedly fights against?

It doesn't work, that's what. Insults don't mean anything unless people actually feel insulted, so it's a waste of time.

But doesn't insulting people based on their weight and/or sexual history only reinforce the fact that weight and sexual histories are things critical enough to be insulted over? If you call someone a fat, ugly virgin neckbeard, you're telling him that

A) his weight is worth targeting, and matters
B) his physical attractiveness is worth targeting, and matters
C) his sexual history is worth targeting, and matters

What do you say when they turn around and ask you, "why shouldn't yours matter too?"

Nobody asks that, I'm assuming. Usually fights that get down to the childish insult stage stay that way.

I'm not a fan of virgin-shaming (that would be wildly hypocritical of me) or fat-shaming. "Sexist douchebag" is generally a very useful insult. "Neckbeards", though, kinda refers to a specific demographic of people and it's kinda become a separate thing, at least in my perspective, from the actual physical possession of a beard on your neck (though there is a correlation).

That said, I'm not gonna lie, having a beard on your neck (while shaving your face) is kinda gross IMO.
