Whaaaat? What is this shit about being "a better fan"? As long as people are having fun doing what they want to do, liking the things they like, and not hurting anybody, then they are already being the best fan they can be. There is nothing to improve by trying to be more "well-rounded" at the expense of fanning over the things--or, gasp, the one single thing--that they like. You have missed the point of fandom and being a fan, OP.
