What you said about fatigue x 100.

I shipped several ships fiercely when I joined fandom, so it's not like I can throw stones in this particular glass house. But... I got bored with that. I started longing for stories about characters beyond the juggernaut pairings, and even *gasp* for stories that didn't involve romantic pairings at all, but looked at the myriads of other human relationships.

Sadly, these are unbelievably rare in the fandoms closest to my heart, so I've pretty much given up hoping for them. There's still plenty of pairing-centric fanfiction, and some of it's beautifully written, but it just doesn't feed that hunger. (Not to mention it's impossible to talk about this without risking hurting other fans' feelings.)
