It's just a what if. They're not saying it's canon, just having fun with idle speculation. Where's the evidence that says he isn't? Plus given that in HP world everyone has to a) pair up in nice heterosexual marriages with people they met at school or b) die, being asexual seems more plausible than just not having found the right girl.
