Re: Vaugely based on #10

This is going to make me sound stupid, but I hate the ending of Tangled because Flynn's narrating, saying that Rapunzel proposed to him and I was like, "Huh, that's a cute quirk in a kids' movie- way to go" and then they turned it around and I was like, "I see. Because a woman asking a guy to marry her is unacceptable and undesired? Okay." It's petty but I found it annoying anyway.

I don't know if I have even seen that one. I am really out of touch with kid's films these days. -_- I will have to find the scene and watch it.

I'll admit that I haven't seen the movie in a few years, but I thought she did propose to him multiple times and he said yes. When did they turn it around?

It's been a while for me, too. Flynn's doing the narration at the end and he says something like, "And then she asked me to marry her"- if memory serves, Rapunzel says, "Flynn!" or something, and he corrects it to say that HE asked HER to marry HIM, and that's it. I don't know, it's a small thing but it annoys me.

Couldn't that just be a joke about his ego, that he wants to pretend she pursued him more than he pursued her?

Yeah, I thought that was obvious. She made him correct the story because she didn't like the implication that she was annoyingly persistent... not because of the implication that she asked him.

I don't read it that way, which is why it annoys me.

That's how I saw it and that's how it's meant.

Already said it was petty. What more do you want, man?

The narration goes something like "after asking, and asking, and asking...I finally said yes." *pause* "Just kidding, I asked her."

SA

Found the exact quote, actually, so here you go:

Flynn aka Eugene: ...but I know what the big question is: did Rapunzel and I ever get married? Well I'm pleased to tell you that after years and years of asking and asking and asking... I finally said yes.

Rapunzel: Eugene...

Flynn aka Eugene: Alright, I asked her.
