It clearly matters to you, since you're heavily implying that anyone who says they approach fic from a different perspective is lying.

The fact that you're putting it up in public means you're taking a risk of having it stolen/wanked to death/getting negative comments, which isn't that fun for most people. So there is probably a better reason than "lol backups" for posting it to the public in a searchable archive.

PS: I think sara_lakali is a lying liar who lies, because she felt compelled to make such a horribly obvious excuse. I'm sure there are plenty of people who write for themselves only indeed, just you probably wouldn't find them in a searchable fic archive/on fandom comms. Y'know. You just probably wouldn't find them at all.

'course they can. I still think you're (general you) kinda being a douche if you hold your fic hostage for reviews. If you post your fic online, you're now in communication with your readers. It's OK to not finish a fic for whatever reason, or be a slow updater, but refusing to post an update solely on the grounds that people aren't meeting a quota is kind of a douche move. It's within your rights as a writer, but it's not good behavior.

Good behavior according to who? You? Any you are, somehow, the authority on Good Behavior? Have you shared that with the marketing people and the people who fund new media that, according to you it's bad behavior on their part to cancel ill performing series/comics/artists because, now that they've funded a segment of the thing, they're committed to putting up all of the thing, regardless of the lack of reviews/money making?

It's a different way of thinking. One that you don't share. But that doesn't mean it requires your approval or "behavioral model" to work.

Well you could say "but that's just, like, your opinion man!" in response to literally anything someone says is bad behavior. But, obviously, it is my opinion. I'm not sure what else you want me to say.

Comparing a review quota to a situation where people are being paid doesn't really hold up. Expecting income and interest in order to pursue a piece of work is reasonable. Expecting interest to hold up to complete a WIP is reasonable. But setting a review quota and refusing to update, despite promises and communication with your fans, unless you get X number of reviews, is kinda douchey. And yes, that's my opinion, and no, nobody made me the Authority on Good Behavior, so you can take it for what it's worth.
