IMO, if people think Penny is "average" in terms of intelligence... well, they might be right, but damn that's depressing because she really is very low on booksmarts. Don't get me wrong, social intelligence is important too, but it's sad when people don't demonstrate even a high school level grasp of science.

And what's even sadder is when people can't comprehend the fact that booksmarts doesn't actually equal intelligence, because the education system teaches one basic way that only a handful of people can catch on to. Those people are then praised in society, and it makes no sense.

I can't believe some of you in this thread.

I don't actually see people conflating booksmarts and intelligence, just disagreeing on how important booksmarts vs. social intelligence is and maybe how they're both defined.

If Penny was only low on booksmarts, she'd be progressively more able to follow the geeks.

If the geeks had even a smidgen of social intelligence, they'd probably make this easier for her.

But then, these aren't really people, so that's why the situation has pretty much stayed the same for ages.
