Tagentially related, but here's a chart of anime/manga piracy rates between Japan and the US: http://i.imgur.com/ahonCyq.png

(Top half of the boxes are hardcore fans and bottom are casual fans, btw. Also note that manga and anime piracy is about the same for the US between anime and manga, despite pretty much all anime released for the past few years being legally available, where as manga is much less so.)

Also good luck on shutting down the pirate bay and nyaa.

Well of course more people are going to be pirating stuff outside of Japan when a lot of things aren't legally available outside of Japan. Did that not occur to them?
