Same. I suppose I should technically say "right-winger" as I did used to date a lady who was registered with the GOP, but she was just about as liberal as me on most issues.

I did that, sort of. We were actually really compatible sexually but that was all we could do together.

Sounds perfectly reasonable to me. Even if someone was a moderate Republican and didn't necessarily agree with their party's stance... eh, just no. Claiming membership in a group that does horrible things that affects my everyday life doesn't computer for me. Maybe the exception is if the person were actively trying to fight against those objectionable things.

I don't think this is that shallow, tbh. If you're at each other's throats over any political discussion to the point where no one can even mention politics, then it's not worth it.
