I kinda wish that Bernadette had been the "average" character. She worked with Penny at the Cheesecake Factory, so she could've easily have been someone who was taking night courses and was maybe aware of popular "geek" things, but just didn't know a whole lot about it. Like she'd heard of Star Wars and maybe even saw it once, but she couldn't like tell you what Luke's homeworld was. Y'know like most people.

And I'm ok with Amy being a socially inept science girl. Sometimes they ham her up a bit too much, but she helps Sheldon in social situations by thinking about things logically and combining with what she know about how people act and react. If she toned down her desperation a bit, I'd be cool with her.
