Harry/Hermione, mostly because it seemed to come with a side of Ron!hate. I don't care so much anymore though.

Zuko/Katara. I initially shipped this and then I stepped into fandom. What a mistake.

Derek/Stiles. Once again, this was my very favorite ship. I drew fanart. I wrote fic. And then I really started participating in fandom and it was ruined. So much Scott bashing. So much "IT'S TOTALLY CANON WAIT IT'S NOT CANON HOMOPHOBIA." I just couldn't take it anymore.

So basically, other fans ruin everything. I'm being so careful with Free! because right now I ship everything and I'd like to keep it that way. XD

I find Harry/Hermione entirely dull to be honest. Like I tried to like it a bit but then ...I don't know I just didn't find any interest in it. At all. Also I do hate Weasley hate. especially because some people can be really awful about it. I've heard people saying Ron and Ginny should be neutered /spayed like they were fucking animals. and I saw an entire fic that was about Harry going back in time to prevent Ginny's birth in revenge for something she did. and it got a lot of positive reviews.

I gave it a chance too but I really preferred Ron and Hermione's bickering to Hermione supporting Harry and iirc those were the most common interpretations of the ship (I mean, they're canon, obviously, but the fics I read didn't really flesh them out that much).

I never cared for Ginny (and I always wanted Harry to stay single) but the hate the Weasley's got was disgusting. It's so sad that the fic you described got good reviews. I can't imagine Harry ever doing something like that. :(

Yeah I agree. I like Ron/Hermione because they're interesting and in some way they sorta remind me of my own parents as a couple.

Personally I like her, but eh I guess that's a thing up to interpretation. The fic had Ginny suddenly become OOC evil and pull the classic "kill the family for the insurance money" thing. and Harry's like "I need to make sure she's never born even if it means sterilizing Mrs. Weasley"

and I'm like "TECHNICALLY SPEAKING YOU'RE INSURING YOUR KIDS ARE NEVER BORN> YOU KNOW THAT RIGHT? YOU ARE REKILLING YOUR OWN KIDS. ASSHOLE"

I didn't mind Harry/Ginny, but I care a lot more about Ron/Hermione.

I didn't really want Harry to be single though because it seemed he would be unhappy that way. He likes companionship and he had romantic/sexual feelings (for various people, not just Ginny, obv).

I just really like the lonely hero trope, hahaha. XD

I will never get the appeal of Harry/Hermione. It's such a boring Hero Gets the Only Female Protagonist cliche.

Yeah, it really does nothing for me at all.

I honestly just prefer Harry and Hermione as friends and I think they're an excellent example of a close, trusting M/F friendship. I loved them in the part of Deathly Hallows where it was just them and Hermione was the one with him when he went to Godric's Hollow.

I'm kind of with you on Derek/Stiles, I quite liked it when I first started watching but stepping into the fandom was a mistake. I'd never had the experience of the fans of something ruining my enjoyment of said thing but it happened in this case.

I still like Derek/Stiles to some extent but not as much as I used to.

Yeah, there are Derek/Stiles fics that I will love forever (even though some of them read more like original fiction than fanfiction, hahaha) but I don't spread that info around and I try my best to avoid the ship on tumblr. Teen Wolf fandom is such a toxic place and I enjoyed it so much better after blacklisting Sterek. Which is a shame.

Same I've still got some Stiles/Derek fic bookmarked because I enjoyed them and I want to keep them somewhere if I feel like re-reading them at some point, they have some fun fics. It's actually kind of ridiculous just how toxic it is, I thought a silly show about werewolves would have a fun fandom to reflect it but nope, ship wars and people flinging insults at each other. Yeesh.

RIGHT? For a show as silly as this with a good guy dorky protag like Scott, you'd think the fandom would be good times. INSTEAD. We have this monster. :\ In a way, though, I'm glad I've turned on Sterek since I was so consumed with it that I probably would never have started enjoying Sciles and Scerek. Their fanbases are small but fun and I'm glad my interests have shifted.

I really like Zuko/Katara and I'm glad I never got into the fandom tbh. I'm not butthurt that Katara and Aang got together in canon, I mean whatever, it's not my story to write. It's more fun to ship when it's not soiled by assholes. :P

Oh man, ATLA fandom was such a nuisance for me. I was so deep in the shipwars of that fandom. I really wish I'd stayed out of it; you're right that it's more fun to ship when it's not soiled by assholes. :(
