Uh. What a weird comment. Anon is just pointing out that your reasons for disliking h/c are rather simplified. Doesn't mean you have to start liking h/c, but that your reasons for disliking the trope ignore it's many aspects-- including the fact that it occurs in canon. Unless you consider things that happen in canon to be OOC, which can be the case sometimes.

I don't like it when it occurs in canon. It just bothers me. I guess my reasons aren't very fleshed out. There is a visceral negative response, though.

Yeah, I get that. I'm definitely not a huge fan of physical hurt-- though I do like the comfort if it involves cuddles. Do you just not like big h/c scenes, like a character gets shot and another character cares for them? Or, does little stuff like one character having a bad day and another character making them dinner bother you too?

If it's the focus, it bothers me. I don't like that dynamic. I'm trying to think harder about why. It feels like it doesn't belong, somehow, and it still seems manipulative, whether it's physical or emotional pain that's being comforted.

All I'm hearing here is, "Stop disliking things I like!"

Nah. I'm not super invested in the trope, and I don't care what anon likes or doesn't like. I just think anon's reasons for disliking it are off and their reply was needlessly snide.
