(Anonymous) 2014-08-02 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)I was wondering when someone would finally trot out that tired line. Usually when we have this wank, someone does it within the first few posts. I'm impressed by our restraint this time!
And no, shipping and fanfiction doesn't have real world implications. If it did, you can bet that I would be pretty eager to run in the opposite direction from people who write things like omegaverse and vore. But no, they're just regular people who get off on somewhat odd things.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-02 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)Also, while I think there are some trends in shipping that could be said to be troublesome (e.g. the fact that people seem to avoid shipping black characters), I don't think shipping a homosexual character as heterosexual is one of them, for two reasons: it's not a major trend, and shipping characters as homosexual is very prominent and popular. Really, I think it's got to be taken on a case-by-case basis.

And everyone knows shipping is serious business.
