Thranduil/[any Dwarf]. Because Thranduil dislikes dwarves, the dwarves have good reason (at least in their minds) to distrust him, Thranduil is immortal and dwarves, while long-lived compared to humans are still mortal, and in factors that a lot of LotR/Hobbit fans handwave or completely ignore, Tolkien very much pushed a One True Love ideal in his writing, plus advocated sex=marriage, at least for Elves. Even if she's dead, Thranduil should consider himself still married to Legolas' mother and be out trying to cheat on her. But like I said, fans tend to ignore that.

It doesn't help that the dwarves who usually get shipped with him are either Thorin or Kíli. Thorin hates his guts, while Kíli was probably raised believing Thranduil is some evil selfish bastard.

Aw. I don't like it as a romantic pairing, but I really like Thranduil/Thorin hate sex. I love the books, but I don't feel the need for all of Tolkien's views to be followed exactly in fanon. I'm happy slashing and reading kink-meme fics and such. None of that is canon, of course, and I do love fics that explore canon situations. But I also love shipping.

Most of the time the moral standards are something I ignore, but occasionally I wish I could find more fic that tackles them.

Thranduil/Thorin hate sex sounds a bit more logical. I just dislike when such pairings are treated as oh-so-romantic, and I also really dislike how Thranduil/Kíli in particular has a lot dub-con fic with Thranduil blackmailing Kíli into his bed, or similar.

Though I think over all, I simply can't really accept Elf/Dwarf pairings. Not even Legolas/Gimli works for me, I can only see them as friends.

Oh, yes, romantic Thorin/Thranduil makes no sense whatsoever. And dub-con/non-con is really OOC for Thranduil. He is a bit different than the other elves we see, but whichever version of him we're talking about I don't think rape is in-character. I mostly just read the PWPs that are basically "I hate you but lets have sex anyway." Mostly for shallow reasons. But anything longer and it gets into romantic territory that just doesn't work.

Aw. I really like Legolas/Gimli, though.

Actually, since I think of it, there is one Elf/Dwarf pairing I support, Celebrimbor/Durin III.

I do support Legolas/Gimli friendship, if that's any consolation?

Celebrimbor/Durin III is nice. Though I'm kind of more into dub-cony Celebrimbor/Annatar. Because dub-con is much more in character for Sauron who seduced Celebrimbor in every way but that way in canon anyway.

Oh, yes, friendship is awesome. Not everyone has to ship.

Yeah, I imagine Durin III was trying to keep Celebrimbor from being drawn in by Annatar, but could see he was fighting a losing battle. He still didn't stop though.
