I agree with this secret 100% That being said, I'm depressed at all the actually anti-Semitic comments in this post. Can we please not feed into the assumption that criticizing Israel is anti-Semitic by actually being anti-Semitic.

Not a fan of her casting for a number of reasons, but this is definitely one of them.

I'm like 99.99999% sure that the people being anti-semitic in this thread are trolling. Most of them aren't even being remotely subtle about it. I mean, I can't say for sure, but it seems quite likely.

Oh, I think so too. That being said, I've been to a number of protests lately on this, and there are those fringe people who do carry signs expressing exactly this sort of opinion. And it frustrates me.

Just... that's not what's going on here (and I think pointing out that the people doing it here are trolls helps make the point that criticism of Israel isn't necessarily anti-Semitic)

Yeah, I mean I lean towards Palestine personally but GODDAMN do the "genocide Israel" and "kill the Jews" comments piss me off. Like, even from a purely self-interested perspective: YOU AREN'T HELPING GUYS. Because every time anti-Semitic remarks are made, it makes it impossible to hold meaningful discourse and feeds into the crazy nationalistic right-wing rhetoric in Israel, even if it is only stupid internet commentators.

I just want to scream, "STOP HELPING ME!"

The trouble is that the Israeli government's stance is that criticizing Israel is an anti-Semitic position by default. Although, given both Jews and Palestinians are Semitic peoples, it could actually be right. However that means Israel is at least as antisemitic as those criticizing it, with its ethnic cleansing of Palestinian areas.
