"Horribly limited," sure. "Horribly unable to get a date, because most people are vanilla," I would've gone with. But why would they be abused? The sort of person who interrupts their fanfic sex for random PSAs sounds like they would be very into Safe, Sane, Consensual (or at least RACK), and SSC/RACK BDSM is nothing like abuse. So that's a weird thing to conclude.

I think they mean that if kids grow up thinking BDSM is the Only Caring Relationship, they could end up getting involved with someone who is abusive and fails to live up to Safe, Sane, Consensual (or coerces consent out of their partner).
