I'm honest to god ethnically Palestinian, so cool your jets.

What Israel is doing is not genocide. Genocide has an actual definition. Israel at no point tried to kill all Palestinians.

What they were doing, up until the past 20-30 years, is called ethnic cleansing. Still horrible! But a different thing. They wanted to move them, often violently, and take their land. That's different from eliminating them.

Now things are more nuanced. Conditions are much better for arab citizens of Israel than they used to be, to the point where more and more of them are actually joining the IDF (yes, I know that's weird). Israel appears to be accepting its future as a multiethnic state, in fact if not in textbook definition. They can't possibly get rid of Palestinians, there are too many. Its treatment of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza appears to stem from weird pigheaded fascist violent tendencies rather than outright ethnic cleansing, because I think they've given up on that. I think it's just useful for them now to have The Enemy. Yes, it's still incredibly fucked up and a human rights nightmare. No, it's not genocide.

When you use the wrong words, you make it possible for the idiots you're fighting with to argue more effectively against you. Don't do that.

Thank you: I have no idea what is going on in Gaza, so I am not qualified to comment, but the overuse of the word 'genocide' is doing no favors to anyone.

By following the traditional media overuse of such loaded words, we are only devaluing them, not clarifying matters any. Oversimplifying serious, life and death matters bis not acceptable in my book.

'Genocide' has a clear definition: look it up or don't use the word.

PS: it's a bit like 'hero', nowadays nearly all headlines are abusing the word to the point where is doesn't mean anything anymore. The only result is that truly heroic actions don't impress the public anymore: not what I'd call a positive result.

Thanks for this comment. I get really annoyed and worked up about this (in part because I'm an American and my government pays for Israel's bombs), but I feel like I'm still trying to figure out what's going on.
