Yeah, I remember when they unveiled the designs and everyone was raging, and I was like "Actually this isn't so bad. It's different, but not so bad."

However, EVERYTHING ELSE ABOUT THIS REBOOT BESIDES THE DESIGNS pisses me off.

Like half the people I know right now are either flailing or moaning about Sailor Moon Crystal, because "omg this is my childhood". I'm older than them, and TMNT is my "omg this is my childhood" thing, and I have actually been totally okay with every previous redo. The first cartoon was way different than the comics. The first movies were way different than the cartoon, closer to the comics but sort of a happy medium. Another cartoon reboot was closer to the comics for awhile. The current Nick series is way different than anything that came before, and I have caught a few episodes and am totally cool with it, even with April being a kid now.

Michael Bay version? I literally wind up half-blinded by rage for several minutes* every time I see an ad for the thing. There are so many BETTER things to be angered by than the character designs, I don't know why anyone even gives a crap except that it's an easy, immediately obvious target.

* I know this is not healthy/sane. I never said I was healthy/sane.

Yeah. The whole entirety of this iteration makes me angry. I can't even LOOK at the ads, I have to turn away. Goddammit Michael Bay, why must you shit on everything I love.

Oh, count me in on the Bay ragehate. Whether he's the director or producer or whatever else, the story and characterization will suffer. He needs to stop. Or create his own franchise.

Okay, um... I never watched TMNT when it was on tv or anything so - what has Bay done that makes you rage so hard?

Also: Megan Fox as April. (Granted, April in the comics was not a redhead, so I'm not complaining about that part. I just have NO IDEA why she has to be in this movie when she can't act worth a crap, except if Bay has some kind of deal with her or something, I dunno.)

CG action scenes look as ridiculous and over-the-top as in every other thing Michael Bay has done, so I can't imagine we'll actually get to see a showcase of, you know, ACTUAL MARTIAL ARTS which is what the NINJA turtles specialize in, not gigantic explosions and car chases and physics-defying stunts. Silliness of the first movies aside, at least they actually had real martial artists in those suits, showing off what they could do even ensconced in huge rubber costumes.

As I said before, I can deal with messing around with the origin story some - even the first cartoon did that - but Bay does not have a good track record when it comes to his movies telling a good story, so combined with everything else and then what I've heard about the plot changes, it's like they just changed it because they COULD rather than because he wanted to improve upon it or tweak it for a particular audience.

There's just... there's SO MUCH wrong with this reboot it doesn't even feel like TMNT anymore, even when there are actual mutant turtles in colored masks front and center in the footage. I can't even put my finger on some of it, it just feels ALL COMPLETELY WRONG in addition to the stuff I can actually identify.

Right there with you. I've been a TMNT fan since I was a little elementary schooler getting up at 6AM to watch the cartoon and I've stuck with every new version of them, even that shitty live action show. This movie fills me with deep hatred and will be the first Turtles movie I have no intention of seeing in theaters. I desperately hope it bombs hard.

Idk TMNT and SM were both my childhood. I had an older brother and friends that were boys who were all into it. But, IA with you. After I saw the trailer and HEARD them speak I noped right out of there. They sound like wannabe thugs or some shit.
