Re: Your Age Vs. How Old You Look

I'm almost 30, and I'm routinely mistaken for someone who's in her late teens. Usually doesn't cause me any problems, lately. Generally people just act surprised when they learn my real age (for example, I recently got carded at the liquor store, and the clerk did a double take when she saw my birthdate. "Woe, thought you were A LOT younger than that!").

I'm almost 30 too and the same thing happened to me two weeks ago (and it's sad cause the legal drinking age is 18 so I don't look 18 either?), haha. I also have braces and i don't wear much makeup.

Exactly my situation. I can't buy anything for someone over eighteen without getting side-eyed and carded by a clerk who's usually younger than I am, haha. I haven't tried to get into an R-rated movie yet, I should do that and see what happens.

Same here. The age depends on where I am. If it's a bar, 18. If it's the mall, 16. It used to annoy me more when I was in my early 20s, but I'm getting used to it now. The only thing that really gets on my nerves is when people think I'm lying and don't believe me.

"I'm 30."
"No way! Really??"
"Yeah."
"Wow! I don't believe you!"
"It's true."
"No, you don't look 30 at all. You're joking with me."
"I'm not."
"No, I don't think you're 30. You've got to be at least 20."
"... I assure you, I'm 30."
"Naw, I don't believe you."
At this point depending if I need to proof my age or not, I either pull out my ID or shrug. If I have to pull out my ID it's another minute of more disbelief. I don't know wtf is so fascinating by it. I'm Asian, it's not that uncommon... And this conversation has happened almost word for word more times than I'd care to admit.
