Re: Reincarnation

I've begun to actually wonder if the PL memories people pick up on are memories they absorb from other people who were in a given place. When we die, we become the earth, so perhaps we remain within other elements - and our memories, our emotions, carry on. So a knight in medieval France might be killed for treason in a castle, and a visitor to that castle suddenly has a flashback of being that knight - except they're not.

Not sure how that explains people who remember the ancient times, except that over time, who knows how much has been carried over without us really thinking about it? An unmarked burial ground becomes a plant, which becomes food, which is served to various people...

I hope this makes some sort of sense.

Actually, those would be "memories" people absorb from the hypnotherapists, who ask leading questions, when the victims are in a highly suggestible state.

Are you saying the therapists are leading them into believing false memories? Because yes, this is a concern I've had too. Also, I visit a reincarnation website on occasion, and while I find it a more grounded forum compared to others, lately people have been saying people with things such as ADHD and depression might consider hypnotherapy. While I'm fine with people considering all options, even if reincarnation were real, and you really were depressed because you'd killed your entire family in a past life - how the hell would that make you better? Stuff like that is a little alarming.

Yep. UFO abductions, Satanic abuse, "reincarnation" memories. They all tend to be "brought out" by exactly the same type of person. (Hint: It's about the money.) Newage books dealing with the topic make a mint, and there are half a hundred "gurus" out there who claim they are the reincarnated Swami Wachamacallum who aren't. (I'm not talking actual Buddhists or Hindus here, I'm talking the fake ones, who do it to swindle stupid people.)

This is no different from Weight Loss Guarantees and preachers who claim sending them money will save our souls through the television. Every philosophy and practice in the world has leeches hanging on the sides wanting to make a profit. It doesn't negate the people who do believe in these things nor does it disprove people's past life recalls. Just like pro wrestling does not negate amateur wrestling.

Hmm...ok...maybe what I believe really shouldn't be called reincarnation.
