I don't think it's necessarily hypocritical. Derek is a fail whale, so getting involved with a teen continues his pattern of poor decision making. Deputy Parrish is an officer of the law, so he's in a position of authority/can abuse that power/is old enough to be committing a felony. Both pairings have really serious underlying underage issues, but I think Parrish/Lydia is worse because of Parrish's job.

I agree. I'm a Sterek fan and recognize the many, many issues that such a pairing would involve, including the age difference. But I see no hypocrisy in objecting to the age difference between Parrish/Lydia precisely because he's, at least so far, been set up to be a mature, respectful officer of the law who would not likely be willing to get into a relationship with a high schooler who's also friends with his boss (the Sheriff)'s son. Threatening to blackmail the orderly at Eichen House is one thing...

That said, I'm actually hoping they're going to be original (FOR ONCE) on this show and not go the apparent hook-up route.
