Brains are gross

That's why I'd refuse to watch a cooking show where they're cooking calf brains. Pure ick factor.

I wish I felt safe eating brains, because they look fucking delicious

And they really are delicious.

Are you worried about Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy? Because I guess that would be a reason not to eat bovine brains. (Depending on how the calves themselves were kept and fed, that is.)

The other reason I can see is that some cultures traditionally disapprove of organ meats. I pretty much grew up on chicken livers, so whatever.

Yeah, BSE and other similar prion diseases. It just seems like too much of a risk. Like, just irresponsible.

That's the only reason, I have no problem whatsoever with organ meats in general. In fact I love them.

There are also other diseases and parasites that can make offal risky, like hydatids is enough of a problem in southern regions of Australia that selling offal is banned.

Meanwhile, I once tried a steak and kidney pie. I hated the kidney, the taste and texture both repulsed me.

Selling offal in southern Australia is definitely not banned. Selling offal from hunted/wild meat is banned.

Okay then maybe the ban was in Tasmania. It could have also changed, because this is old information I'm going on, from when my mother lived in Tasmania.

They're delicious. West Sumatrans know how to cook them best and I love it (it's just not really good for your cholesterol level to eat them too much)
