Been doing this for years, with both fandom ships and characters from my own original stuff. A while ago I told my husband about it, and far from being skeeved out he was quite intrigued. He says he'd be open to participating in it, sort of low-key role-playing, but the idea makes me too uncomfortable. He's a theater guy from way back and I don't know if I'd be willing to let him decide how far to take the characterization. One day, maybe.

Which is to say: rock on if it works for you, and don't be afraid to 'fess up eventually. You never know.
