I like this season so far (though there have been plotholes and coincidences galore).

I don't think Stiles is awful. No, I don't think he should have kept quiet about Malia - though Lydia and Scott (and Kira, but I'm not totally sure about that) also knew and didn't tell - but, actually, I kind of think it should have been Peter's responsibility to tell her. Also, about the money, well, Stiles has never been totally on board with always doing the right thing (at least talking about it - his actions sometimes contradict what he says), he tends to be more pragmatic or doing the expedient thing. I was honestly a little surprised he was so absolute that they should tell Derek. But, well, he's kind of right about Peter, I mean I'm not totally sure what he's up to (gaining strength {from where?}, killing the mute before they could take him in and question him, working with Kate {seriously?} for power) and given the things he's done in the past, they shouldn't trust him. I think an argument could be made for giving all the money to Derek, though I'm pretty sure Stiles was thinking give half to Derek and keep the other (Peter's) half. I never thought Stiles was any sort of paragon - he's kind of an ass sometimes and more morally gray than Scott. But I like him that way - generally a good guy, wanting to protect the people he cares about, but really going about it the wrong way a lot of times and sometimes being self-serving (or, I guess more group-serving, where group equals the people he cares about and sometimes the people they care about).

I'm tired of the Jeff Davis hate, too. I guess there might be a show where the creator has complete control over every detail without any input from writers, directors, actors, or network people, but I don't think I've come across it. And sometimes there are other considerations that have nothing to do with the character side (contracts, schedules, personality clashes, etc.).
