>OOCness- I've seen people even warn for OOCness. While I appreciate the warning, I find myself wondering WHY you would do that. If your characters act differently there should be a reason and if so it isn't OOCness. If you, know the writer does their homework.
>Character Bashing or having all the characters talk shit about ONE character. Basically people just giving favorable treatment to characters they do like and unfavorable treatment to characters they don't. Here's the thing - If I can tell who you like and dislike just by reading your fic, then that's a bad thing. and if you openly ADMIT you're making a character OOC because you don't like them? Lol you can forget about me reading your stuff. Yeah, yeah I know "it's MY fic" but in the same way, I'm not effing obliged to read it and like it. When you make your least favorite character the Butt Monkey or Chew Toy of the universe out of spite or whatever, I lose respect for you.
>OCs who act like assholes but they are treated as if they are awesome clever and witty- Um...I watch/read/partake in the series because I LIKE the characters, so you can't expect me to like a character who comes in and treats them like dirt. I don't like characters that get favorable treatment and lord it over everyone else. Your OC isn't a clever little princesss/epic badass, they're a bully.
>Smug Fic Writers who shove it in your face that their version is BETTER THAN CANON - Like I don't have a problem with opinions. I just don't like reading an AU where the author is continuously making Take That's at the canon and snide references to it and stuff. If you think you're writing an improvement on an episode you didn't like...I actually don't mind...just....write the thing and let the thing speak for itself. If it's really that great, it shouldn't NEED jokes about how inferior than canon was.
>Possession Sues/Canon Character Made Perfect- I think a thing that all fic writers should be told that in fanfic a character doesn't have to be an OC to be a Mary Sue. There is such a thing as taking a canon character and turning them into a total Sue. I believe TV Tropes calls this the "Possession Sue". It sometimes happens when the creator projects so much of the them-self SO MUCH on the canon character that the character becomes the fic author and not... you know the ACTUAL canon character. and often these types are also the sort to look down on OCs as "such Sues" and be OH so convinced that their ship is superior. (in on fandom I'm in I saw this in action when someone drew art of the female half of a canon pairing being served the heart of an OC they disliked (by their boyfriend dressed as a butler). THE FEMALE CHARACTER IN QUESTION IS CANONICALLY VEGAN)
> OCs Created to Kill An OC/Character the Creator Hates- Because in most cases it's pathetic and disgustingly hypocritical because the "Hunter OC" is a huge Sue as well. Also revenge fic is petty and childish.
*ahem* so yeah those are my big fic turnoffs.
