This fic is an AU that removed all the cool stuff you love from canon and makes everyone boring. Also everyone has [issue here] but the issue is treated in an inaccurate and probably unhealthy way.

Yes. Not my cup of tea at all. I like AUs that change one event in canon and then show how things might have been different from there. But I don't like coffeeshop AUs or librarian AUs or so on. Most of the time the characters aren't even recognizable.

I wouldn't mind a coffeeshop AU or whatever that still kept elements of canon, like...a political issue in canon was turned into a similar political issue between two coffee shops. But most don't do that, and are OOC. So yeah.

This!!! AU's are meant to play around with the established characters in a new environment, not to change the characters into different people completely.

Yeah, No-Magic AUs, Modern Day AUs, fics that randomly decide "Oh! And Canonically Dead Guy isn't dead! Nope! I'm not gonna explain how! He's just alive!".

Dammit, if a fic is going to keep a canon kill alive, I want the story of how and why they're alive! That's gotta be an interesting story in and of itself!
