Re: Fanfiction dealbreakers
(Anonymous) 2014-08-07 12:50 am (UTC)(link)I'm talking the smug pieces that revolve around a social issue and include an author's note explaining the concept. It comes across as so preach and self-important. It's good and necessary to talk about the problems in fiction, but when people include those problems in fanfic, it usually comes across as "let me teach you about this thing, you ignorant plebes." And it's arrogant and bothersome.

Like it's one thing if the issue is explored in the story as an actual issue and explored well but...when it's just turned into a sermon...pass.
