The writers who write G-d or J*s*s instead of God or Jesus to try and loophole lawyer their way out of blasphemy. Even worse when it is in dialogue because I don't know anyone who has mastered the art of of pronouncing a "-" or a "*" in mid word. I get that the writer might have a thing about blasphemy, but by the time you come to write down G-d you are already invoking it in spirit, and if I remember my Sunday School lessons Jesus has very little time for rules lawyering. Either Either put in God and Jesus's names properly, or leave them out. No sneaking around the edges.

The whole G-d thing is somewhat specific to Jews, because the stricter ones have a prohibition against destroying the Name (if I recall correctly). It's less about blasphemy in that case. I have never seen Jesus with asterisks, but that is really stupid.

I don't know about J*s*s (people do that? weird), but flip is right about Jews and G-d. They aren't writing it that way to "loophole lawyer their way out of blasphemy." They're writing it that way because they believe that it's wrong to spell it out, regardless of the context in which it's being used.
