Two reasons, mostly similar to others'.

One, I'm a lesbian, so if I'm going in for smut, reading slash is escapism. I don't have that little part of my brain that checks for realism, because I don't have a dick and won't ever fuck a dude. So I'll never have to go, "Oh no, I wouldn't ever like that to be done to me."

The other is simply that I find het boring. It's everywhere. I have no emotional investment in it because het pairings seem essentially interchangeable to me (the other reason I can't stand romantic comedies).
