Gah, a lot of the racial stuff about Lilo and Stitch hits close to home for me, even though I'm not Hawaiian. I'm Indian, and there are a lot of parallels about commercialization of cultural traditions between Hawaiian and various Indian cultures. There is a lot of meta about Indian culture, cultural appropriation, commercialization, etc. and most of it just makes me roll my eyes when I see it. However, Lilo and Stitch I run into more because it's fandom-based and, well, there's more of it, and it tends to elicit the same reaction.

Lilo was definitely NOT the only Hawaiian girl there. Out of the five younger girls in the class, only two were white. Actually, only two were white out of all ten girls there (but the other five were an older group with no speaking roles).

Yeah it totally ignored the fact that there are some pale Hawaiian people. But on Tumblr it's usually "pale? WHIIIIITE"

Funny part is that they're not even all that pale, maybe just a shade or two off from Lilo. *eyeroll*

Yeah. It's like SJWs operate on some version of the "one drop rule".

I know from memory that a lot of SJW arguments are actually suspiciously similar to a lot of "oppressors'" arguments for various anti-justice, discriminator, or bigoted actions across the last few centuries.

Every now and then, I consider running a parallel post pointing this out. But then I wonder if they're even worth the amount of time that would take, and anyway I can already think of the arguments they would make about it as a result and that is a mess that I would love to get involved in, but can't right now due to time-constraints.

Yeah. That's true. It's disturbing how good that can be at spouting these things and then convincing everyone that they're "for justice" and "progressive".

I tend to pick my battles with them and be careful which ones I respond to with my username. I have heard of people who were obsessive enough to harass a person for months after for something they said. and that shit's too stressful to bother with.
