OMG old wank is oooold... j/k, OP. Make secrets about whatever fandoms you want. I was pleasantly surprised to see a Singing in the Rain secret!

Never kissed with tongue before? Never even heard of it? Wow. Yeah, finding someone's tongue in your mouth without warning would be pretty gross.

..it was the sixties, and most girls were quite sheltered, including those that were 19. In 1979 my mother still didn't know what a condom was (she thought it was a pill.)

[personal profile] peablossom 2014-08-08 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
? Okay? All I said was that it would be super gross. I'd think it was a weird, nasty prank if I'd never seen it/heard of it before.

Even earlier--came out in 1952. She was only 19, and hadn't yet had much in the way of relationships, so I believe it.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-14 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
it was the fifties.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-09 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
I've heard of it, never done it though, but the thought of it does seem pretty icky to me. I mean, does it just poke around? Slide around licking everything? Sounds drooly. And fanfic lines about "tongues battling for dominance" don't help either.

[personal profile] peablossom 2014-08-09 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
It can be done that way, but ugh, it's gross when that's the circumstance. I personally can only take it if it's more sliding along the other tongue, maybe licking a lip, and for the sake of all that is decent NO SPIT.

I love that movie to pieces, but everything I've ever heard indicates that Gene Kelly was a massive asshole to Debbie Reynolds throughout the entire filming. It wouldn't surprise me that he'd surprise-french her while he was at it.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-08 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought he was a massive asshole to everyone in this movie and in all movies he was in?

Also, I think I once read a story that one of the other actors (can't remember if it was Donald O'Connor or someone else) found Reynolds crying because she could do some dance steps or something as well as Kelly wanted her to, and helped her practice backstage.

I think it was Fred Astaire who is supposed to have found her crying.

No, he was a dick to everyone in this movie. HOWEVER, he was a prince in other movies. For example, in Cover Girl, lead actress Rita Hayworth was having an awful time with her then abusive husband. Kelly came to become her protector on set. Nearly coming to blows with the husband when he got in between them. Hayworth remained grateful to him for the rest of her life. His other co-star in the movie Phil Silvers said Kelly was one of the best co-stars he had ever had. And the two remained good friends until Silvers' death.

The problem with Kelly was that he was a severe workaholic and a perfectionist. If you were the same, he loved you. If he thought you were in anyway slacking, he hated you. There was no middle ground with him.

It doesn't surprise me. I always thought Gene Kelly was a complete asshole.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-09 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Reminds me how Alex Kingston was in a play and her character had a kiss and the guy kept sticking his tongue down his throat even though she asked him to stop. So she warned him next time he did it she'd bite his tongue, and he did so she did. He kissed her carefully after that because he had six stitches in his tongue. Professionalism, actors!

(Anonymous) 2014-08-09 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
Who was the actor and what was the play?! Dish, dish!

I know everyone has their kinks and there's nothing wrong with you thinking it's hot. BUT. It's not polite to stick your tongue into someone's mouth without first asking permission and/or had been leading up to it with some making out.

Aw, I don't like finding out this stuff for movies I love :( Surprise tongue while kissing is never cool.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-09 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
I'm with her on this one. I've had people's tongues in my mouth all of twice and all I can think is that it feels like the gummy worm version of meat. No thanks.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-09 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
This is actual, real life. He assaulted her. You're turned on. Go you.

[personal profile] diet_poison 2014-08-09 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
That's really, really gross. It's basically assault.

And it does creep me out a little that you liked it. It wouldn't bother me as much if it wasn't a real thing that happened to a real person.

I don't mind tongue-kissing (even granted that I've...only ever done it with one person and it's been a long time), but having someone do that to me by surprise, without warning or any build-up? No. Not cool, under any circumstances.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-09 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
What was the source for this? Because while I can totally believe that of Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds also carefully cultivated a "good girl" persona, so I can see her/her representative selling a "did you know she HADN'T EVEN HEARD OF FRENCH KISSING?" story to the papers to boost the image.
