That could be a reason. Some of it might also have to do with societal expectations/family pressure, or the screaming biological clock, or a mix.

If someone is the type unable to stand up to their own parents, they might end up marrying someone they don't love because at the time they were thinking "well, you'll do."

If an adult can't stand up to their parents, they have no business calling another spineless.
