Yes, but I think the thing the OP was getting at is never that moms have any role, just that usually if they are involved, it's as one half of a pair. Helen Parr, Marge Simpson, Morticia Addams, they all are one half of a team, taking on duties and responsibilities and parenting together.

Contrast that to SIMBA and MUFASA and... uh.... the lioness that was beside Mufasa and Simba has no problems leaving behind to run away because MY DAD IS DEAD MY LIFE IS OVER I HAVE NO FAMILY.

Simba is a bad example. He ran away because Scar convinced him he was going to be killed otherwise, not because "MY DAD IS DEAD MY LIFE IS OVER I HAVE NO FAMILY".
