Dead Like Me. The relationships between the two daughters and the mother aren't happy, but flawed in a good way that explores their characters well, and I found them very compelling. They're also very bittersweet due to the premise of the show. There is a father in the equation but he doesn't get focused on that much and is mostly gone by the second season (although there are only two 13 episode seasons, so at least it's a short watch).
