And Palestine should sit back and let its citizens be starved and bulldozed out of their homes by a much more powerful country that wants their land and has no concern whatsoever for their welfare?

Don't forget having their water stolen from them too. Israel has been draining aquifers under Palestinian lands and piping it out to their own populations.

The Palestinian people are the political prisoners of the terrorist group Hamas, which steals their aid and then sends out propaganda. Hamas tortures its own people in order to gain international sympathy. There is no good solution, but Israel can't sit on its hands and let them shoot rockets all day, either. If Israel had no concern for Palestinian welfare, it could easily carpet-bomb the Gaza strip into submission.

I'm fucking tired of that argument. If the Palestinian people are the political prisoners of the Hamas party, how are they not also the political prisoners of the Israeli hard right and the settler movement? If Israel can't sit on its hands and let them shoot rockets all day, why is Palestine expected to sit on its hands and let Israel invade them and let Israel settle and let Israel take from them? Why is everything that happens in Israel and Palestine a justification of why Israel has to be allowed to do whatever they want, and why Palestine doesn't have the right to do anything?

Probably the only reason Israel doesn't is because total genocide might very well lose them the remaining good will of the international community, and they'd be on their own. I doubt they'd hesitate if they knew they could get away with it, same as certain other countries wouldn't hesitate if they knew there'd be no retaliation for wiping Israel off the map.
