i have no qualms with liking children's media if i like it, i just don't think GotG was. children were the secondary audience, not the primary audience. ergo, it was not a children's movie. that's my standard anyway. but fair enough if you disagree.

I have a 7 year old who wants to see it and I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to let her. She loves Rocket from the previews, but I don't know how she'll feel about him in the actual movie.

I think she'd probably like Rocket. He's sort of awesome. The bad guys, while somewhat caricatural, could be scary for a 7-year-old, though. Sort of depends on her personality.

Take her to see it if she's a hardy, well-adjusted kid. If she's the type to have nightmares from innocuous things and has delicate sensibilities, you might want to hold off.

Really, I meant what I said. It's a movie designed around the assumption that kids are going to want to see it. It has the happiest ending in the world, the humor isn't very cerebral, the tone is exactly something kids are supposed to enjoy.
