I never, ever use sick days. I just don't get sick, and if I feel a little under the weather, I suffer through it. But I have a whiny co-worker who calls in sick all the time, coincidentally when she's going to be put on a task she hates doing. Nearly positive she's faking it, and the idea just drives me nuts, especially since we get paid the same.

I think I might call in sick, like, tomorrow. And just bum around and play video games all day.

(okay, I'll probably flake out and not... but I felt kind of badass suggesting it on this anonymous fandom forum)

Do it anon.

From the sound of it, it sounds like you never skipped school either.

Hell yeah, do it.

Do it at least once!

Man, everyone is saying "do it"...that just doesn't sit well with me. It's dishonest.

Your co-worker sounds like an asshat and I'd resent that too. (Especially if means more of the annoying work gets shifted to me.)

There's nothing wrong with taking a mental health day for yourself once in a while. Everyone needs those.

Didn't really sound like that's what was going on in this case. But I'll reserve further judgment due to lack of context.

I actually don't agree with people who go into work and suffer through their sickness, especially if they're contagious. I don't want to hear/see my co-workers sniffling, sneezing, hacking, and just plain suffering while I'm there to work. Just stay home, get some rest, and come back when you're feeling better.

As for your co-worker, she could be faking it or she might not be. You don't know what's going on in her head. From personal experience, I've made excuses to get out of something I wasn't comfortable with because I didn't want to say what was actually bothering me for fear of embarrassing myself.
