DA but I hated the ending. It kind of ended messily, and I don't mean the writing, it just was kind of over, and that was it. It felt really rushed.

I agree! I was really interested in the story and was enjoying it... and then, huh. It was over. I didn't feel like it really tied up the ending in a satisfying way. Though I might've been more invested in the fic-within-the-novel, too.
