Because it's not a kids movie. Kids movies are movies that are made with primarily for kids in mind. There's nothing wrong with liking a kids movies. Frozen is a kid's movie and look at how popular it was.

GotG however was made for everyone everyone in mind (55% of the audience has been over 25). It had stuff in there for kids but also things that only adults would get (a lot of the jokes and most of the references).
