Re: Haikyu!! or Kuroko's Basketball

The kendo and the track and field ones were never made into anime, as far as I know, they're manga, and I don't know how internationally well-known they are. I don't think they were ever translated into English? I think Harlem Beat was, though.

It's tricky with Kuroko, but he's reminds me more and more of the kind of main characters that I don't like in harem-ish BL games, in that everything more or less revolves around him. I know I'm being silly, he's the main character, that's kinda the point, but what you said about his former teammates' obsession with him, that you found hilarious, I've found that pretty tiring by now. I also found that he can be pretty callous at times, but the narrative never challenged that and there's never any repercussions for it. I don't want to be spoilery so I won't go into details (and besides, these might just be me. He's constantly been the most popular character in characters polls, so clearly most people don't have the same issue).

Oh, well if they were never translated into English that's going to make it impossible for me to read them. LOL. Unless they were translated by fans, but again, I will research!

Ah, alright, thanks for that explanation. I do get what you're saying and why after a while that kind of thing might grow old. Right now I find the weird possessiveness his former teammates have for him amusing more than annoying, but that sort of thing doesn't always stay fun. I guess you want more of an ensemble cast? The members in Haikyuu get a bit more time to themselves (and so seem to have more personality), though there's still two main characters that are ~super important~. That seems to be a theme so far in the anime I've watched, especially in the few sports ones.

Kuroko is a bit...tepid, but in the flashbacks he seems a bit more engaging so I thought he might eventually start to change. Don't know if that happens or not or what exactly he did that was so callous, but now I'm sort of curious because atm he just seems a bit boring. (I don't dislike him, not at all, he can be cute or sweet at times, but maybe he gets some character development that makes him more interesting?)
