Most of my ships are dysfunctional or involve deeply flawed characters.

Yes EXACTLY. And to me that's what makes the characters I love intresting and worthwhile and I cannot, cannot CANNOT understand why people want to force them into this horrendously OOC, cookie cutter sentimental crap.

It means nothing. There is no character context for it and so it holds no weight. Even in a relatively fluffy OTP, unless the author has shown me how the characters have reached the point where they are happy and in love and exchanging, to quote someone upthread, 'latte froth kisses', then it packs no punch. It's just lazy, meaningless drivel. RAAHH.
